Not knowing what career path to pursue, at 17-years old, my initial passion was to maybe be a drama teacher.

But, in 1976 when Michael Landon announced

"Tami Mae Sanders, Oregon's Junior Miss"

as a finalist on CBS's live telecast of

America's Junior Miss...a whole new passion was born.

"I spent 2 solid weeks in

Mobile, Alabama preparing for the broadcast.

Along with staging and rehearsals for the show, I was fascinated with watching the crews prepare for the upcoming broadcast and watched closely!"   tami sanders oregon's jr. miss michael landon america's jr. miss

"In a way, it was in the same genre as dramatic arts...production, staging, blocking, scripting - but television would give me the chance to reach a larger audience and potentially make an impact on the greater part of the community!

The road from THEN to NOW...?    An exciting journey!

I start pursuing my passion in broadcasting.  I put my nose to the grindstone and worked tirelessly to absorb every element of the industry...

(By the way, I never put the Jr. Miss OR Miss Oregon credentials on my resume.

#1)  The synical journalists would have had a hey-day with that!!!

#2)  If I were hired because of the "beauty-queen" label - it would be difficult to get a meatier story than, "basket weaving in Provo, Utah" )

(learned extensive make-up and imaging techniques...

plus it paid pretty well !)

...diving in head first - never say die -  Always say, "Sure - I can cover that story!" -  Being open to criticism...I was working with Emmy Award winners - Peabody Award winners who knew what the hell they were doing...ultimately, I worked and worked and wrote and produced and "did it over" and laughed AND cried and worked  for years...I HAD A BLAST!

 Winning 3 Emmy's for features I produced,

and also awards at New York's International TV

and Film Festival?

It was such a wonderful feeling - getting

recognized by your peers, who by the way, are hugely critical.

But, the simple fact...and everyone in the biz will tell you -

'You're only as good as your last project.'

So riding on laurels?  Maybe for ONE WHOLE DAY

Never forget...life always moves on! Crowns tarnish...

Emmys gather dust

but,  they NEVER replace...

the PEOPLE in your life you cherish most!nders, multi-media artist and producer
